“Homophobia And Transphobia In Caribbean Media” a baseline study, is now available online. United and Strong Inc and the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) conducted the groundbreaking research in collaboration with United Belize Advocacy Movement (UniBAM), PETAL, Groundation Grenada, Guyana Rainbow Foundation (GuyBow) and J-Flag.
Monitoring media in five countries, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, it is the first ever LGBTI-focused media-monitoring project in the English-speaking region. The study, conducted in 2014, is intended to inform advocacy around the full recognition of rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, particularly in the Caribbean. The report has already received very positive feedback during an initial limited release. The study will be officially launched later this month.
