The official launch of Media Association of Saint Lucia (MASL) will take the form of a cocktail mixer from 7:00PM at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa – “The Official Home of MASL”. The event will feature presentations from members of the executive, remarks from other officials and a keynote by veteran journalist, Guy Ellis.
The Media Association of Saint Lucia was established in February 2012 to represent the interests of media professionals across the island. Already, the MASL has hosted successful training workshops with trainers from Trinidad & Tobago, Canada and the United States, and also facilitated participation for local media professions at regional and international fora. The Association has also made representation to Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony; Information & Broadcasting Minister, Hon. Dr. James Fletcher; and media owners and managers on matters affecting media workers.
MASL’s Communications Officer and Head of the Planning Committee, Maria Fontenelle, says everything is in place for the big launch. Fontenelle is encouraging all media workers to attend the fun filled event. “It’s our time to be the centre of attention, the main attraction on that night: Cameramen; copy editors; typesetters; managers; and other media workers.”
The MASL will also unveil its official logo during the launch. The logo, which was designed by a member of the association, will feature on all official material from the MASL. During the week, members of the MASL Executive will visit media houses to encourage them to attend the launch of their association. They will also make appearances on local radio and television programmes to heighten interest in the activity, which has been long anticipated and has received loads of attention.
