Howard Earl was on Wednesday charged for practising in Saint Lucia withouta license and practising without being registered. The Guyanese national was bailed in the sum of $5000.00 on each charge. He is to reappear before the court on the 10th of August 2012.
Law enforcement closed Earl’s office and confiscated his equipment last Friday after it was revealed that the physician did not have the proper license to practice medicine on the island. It is also alleged that he was performing illegal abortions.
The St. Lucia Medical and Dental Council has called on patients who have any concerns about the legitimacy of any doctors to contact the council.
This is not the first instance of such a crime. Last year, after one woman spoke out about a botched eye surgery it was discovered that the doctor did not have the requisite license to practice here.
