Reigning Carnival Queen for Vincy Mas 2012


(Thursday 28th June, 2012; Castries) One week before the Carnival Queen Pageant 2012, we are pleased to highlight the Reigning Miss Saint Lucia Carnival Queen – Roxanne Didier-Nicholas as our contestant for the upcoming VINCY MAS 2012-MISS CARIVAL SHOW, to be held on Friday July 6th, 2012 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Carnival Queen Pageant has a twenty-five year history of presenting vibrant, intelligent, and articulate Saint Lucian women to be St. Lucia’s Ambassador for the festival and other regional and international shows during the year of their reign.

The VINCY MAS 2012 – MISS CARIVAL SHOW is intended to provide entertainment and enlightenment about Caribbean arts and culture to the audience; benefits and opportunities for the contestants; and an annual regional event for the participation of the Caribbean Community.

The contestants in the pageant are of Caribbean origin, between the ages of 18 and 25, never married, and are citizens, residents, or born in the Caribbean or at least have one parent of Caribbean descent. The pageant consists of five segments – Introductory Appearance, Swim Wear, Talent, Evening Gown and an Interview session.

It is expected that nine (9) countries will take part in the VINCY MAS 2012-MISS CARIVAL SHOW this year.


Born on the 5th of December 1991 in Castries, Saint Lucia, 20 year old Roxanne Didier Nicholas, was enrolled at the age of four in the Ave Maria Girl’s School which she attended for the next seven years, gaining an elementary level education. Whilst a student at Ave Maria her interest for dance was tickled by the formation of a school dance group. Soon after joining the school’s dance group she was enrolled in the St. Lucia School of Ballet.

In 2003, Ms. Didier-Nicholas wrote the Common Entrance examination and passed for the St. Joseph’s Convent.

At Secondary School, Ms. Didier-Nicholas became a member of the school’s drama club by the persuasion of friends and also become a member of the Avad Dance Ministry outside of school. For the next five

years she participated in drama competitions, aided in the preparation of school productions and also helped coach drama students in during her senior years.

In 2010 Ms. Didier-Nicholas gained entry into the University of the West Indies to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies. In July of 2011, Ms. Didier-Nicholas participated in the Saint Lucia Carnival Queen Pageant and was crowned as the island’s new Carnival Queen for the period 2011-2012.

Constantly consumed by academia she still strives toward her goal of becoming a professional dancer. Having completed seven grades of ballet and modern dance training with, she believes that she is well equipped with the skills and abilities to further her dance education on an international level.

Miss Roxanne Didier-Nicholas is scheduled to leave Saint Lucia for the VINCY MAS 2012-MISS CARIVAL SHOW on Friday 29th June, 2012 and will be back on Saturday 7th July, 2012 to usher in the new Miss Saint Lucia Carnival Queen 2012-2013.
