Eight-year-old Dies After Swimming

On Sunday 3rd May 2012 about 3:00 pm Officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station responded to an incident which occurred at the Pigeon Point beach.

Information received indicates that 8 year old Lester Alphonse of Fond Assau, Babonneau went swimming with his mother, Esther Alphonse, when he encountered difficulty and was submerged. A valiant search was mounted and sometimes later the lifeless body of Lester Alphonse was recovered.

The body of Lester Alphonse was taken to Victoria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A post mortem is scheduled for Wednesday 6th June 2012 at 1 pm to determine the cause of death.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Lester Alphonse.

 12-year-old dies After Swimming

On Sunday 3rd June 2012 about 3:20 pm Officers attached to the Vieux Police Station responded to an incident which occurred at the Dengue in Beanfield, Vieux fort.

Information received indicates that 12 year old Gillian William of St Paul’s Lane, Vieux Fort went swimming with two of his younger siblings at an Estuary when he encountered difficulties and submerged. A search was ensued and the body was recovered.

Gillian William was pronounced dead on the scene by a doctor. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Gillian William.

Fire Destroys Cas En Bas residence.

On Friday 1st June 2012 about 11:00pm, Officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station responded to a fire which occurred at Cas En Bas, Gros Islet.

Upon arrival they noticed a 10 by 12 plywood structure belonging to Justina Joseph of Cas-en-Bas was completely destroyed.

Investigations into the matter is ongoing.

Gas Station Owner Robbed and Wounded

On Saturday 2nd June 2012 about 5:30am Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to an incident which occurred at the Sol Gas Station, on the Millennium Highway.

Reports indicate that 66 year old Kenneth Cox of Goodlands, Castries was robbed by a group of unknown assailants armed with firearm and cutlass. During the incident Kenneth Cox was chopped several times about the body.

He was then robbed of his Mercedes Benz motor car, a firearm and a quantity of groceries.

Kenneth Cox was taken to Tapion Hospital where he was treated and admitted as a result of the injuries sustained. He is said to be in stable condition.

No one has been arrested in this incident but the police are actively pursuing leads and possible suspects.

One Man Arrested and Charged for Possession of Firearm, Possession of Amminition and Possession of Controlled Drugs.

On Monday 28th May 2012 Officers attached to the Drug Unit executed a search warrant on the premises of Maverick Monlouis of La Clery where a 12 Gauge Shot Gun with 12 live rounds of ammunition was discovered in addition to a quantity of Cannabis.

He was arrested and charged for the possession of firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Drug and the Possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.

He was taken before the court on Friday 1st June 2012 where he was bailed in the sum of $2500 on the possession of firearm, $2500 on the possession of ammunition and $750 on his own recognizance for the possession of controlled drugs and the possession with the intent to supply a control drug.

He is to reappear before the court on Thursday 21st June 2012 to answer to the said charges

 Laborie Man Charged for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition

On Friday 1st June 2012 about 10:30 p.m. Officers attached to the Laborie Police Station with the assistance of the Special Services Unit acting on information, conducted a search on King Thomas, a 23 year resident of Market Street, Laborie

During the search a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered with 6 live rounds of ammunition.

He was charged on Saturday 2nd June 2012 for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition and was taken before the court today to answer to those charges.
