The Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) and Saint Lucia Culinary Team’s (SLUCT) SLUCT has partnered with the Office of Private Sector Relations (OPSR) in their National Business Exposition, dubbed “Expo 2012.” The exposition takes place on May 24-26, 2012 under the theme “Expect, Experience, Export the Best of Saint Lucia.”
The National Exposition of Saint Lucia was kicked off Thursday, May 24, 2012 despite the gloomy weather. The official launch took place at 11:00am at the grounds of the Union Industrial Estate, with the attendance of her Excellency the Governor General of Saint Lucia, Dame Pearlette Louisy, Minister of Cabinet and other special invited guest from various national organizations.
One of the major side attractions will be tastes and smells of Saint Lucia presented by none other than Saint Lucia’s National Culinary Team representing the island at upcoming Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) “Taste of the Caribbean Competition” to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Miami from the 20th – 24th June 2012.The squad will be creating tastes and treats utilizing ingredients from local exporters. Their culinary expertise is expected to thrill exhibitors and attendees interested in discovering the fine quality and standards that exist within the local food and beverage industry.
Over 60 exhibitors and willing exporters from all sectors of the economy and from different parts of the island with the assistance of the OPSR made a concerted effort to stage their products to create public awareness and to reiterate the term, “BUY LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL”. The exhibitors which are all from Saint Lucia are present to showcase an array of local products and services. With strong emphasis on displaying the “Best of Saint Lucia” one can expect much from this exposition. We at the SLHTA encourage all companies and staff to come and experience the National pride of an event of this nature, as our local manufactures prepare to export their trade and services.
