Heineken Transforms DWS into UEFA Final Arena



Each year, Heineken does it grander, with more splendor and magical entertainment moments like never before. First Saint Lucia Jazz, 2012 where for the 21st edition Heineken was again gold sponsor and official beer and now sports, football in particular which is great music to the ears of millions of fans worldwide. But if you thought last year was huge, well wait until you see this year’s venue transformation. What are we talking about? Well the biggest ticket this weekend of course, the UEFA Champions League finals, which takes place this Saturday May 19 and sponsored by Heineken. And whilst most of us cannot be there in person, Heineken has decided once again to give fans a unique experience through the biggest viewing party ever to hit these shores.

Last year the event was held at the Bay-walk shopping mall Courtyard. It was a hit! The fans had a blast, even those on the losing side, and some came out winners themselves, one taking home a 42” flat screen TV. And so, Heineken is back once again, with the viewing party for the 2012 UEFA Champions League Finals, one like no other.

For persons who missed the Heineken Beer Garden at the Derek Walcott Square this year due to the absence of Jazz on the Square-this year’s event is sure to delight. The 2012 UEFA Champions League finals will be a combination of the Heineken beer garden, a Heineken VIP stand and party and liming section with the transformation of the Derek Walcott Square downtown Castries, into a grand UEFA Champions League viewing party, this Saturday May 19, 2012.

“For us at Heineken our aim is always to keep our consumers entertained and excited by aligning ourselves with premium events and we never stop. We are moving straight from Jazz to the UEFA Champions League where we have ran a successful UCL on premise campaign at various spots leading to the finals and now that the big day is here we are all set to stage the biggest viewing party yet,” Gaius Harry, Heineken brand manager says.

Millions of football fans all over the globe will be glued to their TV sets for this Saturday’s showdown between Bayern Munich and Chelsea for the 2012 UEFA Cup final. Heineken however has endeavored to make the experience even greater for local fans who can share in the excitement via a 20ft by 20ft screen, the largest currently on island.

Using the international Gladiators and Angels theme of the UEFA Champions League, the Derek Walcott Square will on Saturday reflect this and the action begins at 11 am with pre-match fun activities, giveaways of UEFA Champions League merchandise, food and drinks (well lots of cold Heineken on special), ahead of the 2PM match time. Of course the Heineken ladies will be there as well as Heineken’s very own angels and gladiators offering Heineken on special all day at the venue.

At the end of it all one lucky person will win a brand new iPad2. And, at the end of it all, despite the outcome of the game, Heineken has promised an amazing and memorable experience as never before.

So Saturday May 19- that’s the day, the big one; the UEFA Champions League Finals-between the Blue Team-Chelsea and Bayern Munich flying Red. And you get a chance to enjoy it through the ultimate Heineken Experience with the biggest viewing party ever to hit Saint Lucia at the Derek Walcott Square from 11 am.
